Was I Completely Blind in Love?

A tongue-in-cheek love poem, by Soumya, for exclusively Different Truths.

Fate is a practical joker,
It plays such pranks on me.
First, it gives me so much joy
I lose my sanity
Then one day, without notice
It makes all happiness flee.
Fate made me meet one fine day
An astounding lady
Smart, witty, vivacious
Stunning hot beauty
Of course, I was head over heels
But what knocked out me
Was that this kid liked me too!
Fat old ugly me!
Age, looks, and money are all crap
Was beauties decree
It was some sort of miracle
Which made logic flee
She loved everything that I wrote
And found my PJs funny
She got my signature on my book,
And read it through with glee
We kept chatting night and day
We were on a spree
Oh, these days were such bliss!
I felt so young and free
Then fate plays a nasty trick
And makes all happiness flee
I like you a lot, but still
It’s you. I cannot see
It is nothing to do with you
It’s all about me
I can't explain why this is so,
Was beauties decree
You are a real sweet guy,
But this ends, quoth she
I was at my wit’s end,
I didn’t know what hit me
I knew that this could not last,
But it happened so suddenly
And without any reason
Or warning signs to see
I was completely blind
As one in love can be
I have my memories of this time
Which no one can take from me
I will have to live inhaling
The scent of the memory
