Ritambhara tells us three ways in which homemakers can safeguard the environment. A Different Truths exclusive.
The burgeoning human population is constantly posing a burden on the available natural resources and polluting the environment. It is the moral duty of all of us to join hands to work for making the environment around us worth living for our coming generations. Let us have a look at three simple ways we as homemakers can safeguard our environment and preserve our resources.
1. Judicious Use of Water
It is sad to know that water is wasted more often than used.
Water, as we all know, is vital for existence of life on our planet. Studies suggest that the water availability is continuously dwindling, and it is high time we take note of this. It is sad to know that water is wasted more often than used. For instance, how many of us, turn off the faucet while brushing our teeth or use the optimum amount of water for taking shower or putting use for morning ablution? In fact, we are in the habit of wasting water which most of the time goes unnoticed by us. We can help contribute towards saving water through our little gestures that would make a huge difference to the environment as well as our monthly budget. We can limit our water budget usage as we perform our daily chores such as washing clothes, dishes, bathing, etc.
2. Judicious use of Electricity
You can reduce your carbon footprint by simply reducing on your electricity bills by using energy-efficient bulbs or solar bulbs
You can reduce your carbon footprint by simply reducing on your electricity bills by using energy-efficient bulbs or solar bulbs in place of the regular ones, turning off the home appliances such as TV, AC, fans, etc. when not in use, lowering the air conditioning or heat when it is not necessary especially during seasonal transits, etc. You can also go for solar appliances such as lampposts, geysers, batteries, etc.
3. Say No to Plastic Bags
We have been exceedingly dependent on plastic bags.
We have been exceedingly dependent on plastic bags. Needless to say, these bags end up in landfills after a single use and apart from polluting the environment they choke animals, who mistake these for food. These plastic bags are non-biodegradable. We can do our bit by simply saying no these plastic bags and carry our own bags when we go shopping for our groceries or for anything else for that matter. Making use of the reusable bags would not only help in safeguarding our environment but also would cut down our monthly budget.
