Three Reasons You Should Abjure Proving Yourself to the World

All of us crave for attention. In the process, people try to be flawless with the desire to be liked and appreciated by others, forgetting the fact that it is not possible to please everyone every time. Ritambhara tells us three ways to accept ourselves, in the weekly column. A Different Truths exclusive.

It is a human instinct to crave for attention. In the process, people try to be flawless with the desire to be liked and appreciated by others, forgetting the fact that it is not possible to please everyone every time. We must realise that every individual is a distinct entity with their own flaws, encumbrances, and despondencies. When we embrace our limitations and learn to live with our imperfections, we realise that we have achieved happiness, relationships, and success in the bounty.  Try to be the real you. Here are the three reasons why we shouldn’t look for approval from the world around us.

People will follow the materialistic approach in defining you

Not everything told by the society will suit you as it usually has the materialistic approach in defining the worth of a person. People generally define others in terms of what they possess and not by what they are. No need to run after money. Run after your passion. Chase your dreams. Learn to value things that cannot be bought with money. Invest in your character, loved ones and people who really matter.

Your well-wishers accept you as who you are

We are not required to put a mask and be superficial. People who always stand by us know us. There is no need to pretend and stretch to reach their expectations. Comparisons with others would only instill in you the feeling of dejection. You are only required to be a better version of you with each passing day. It is not possible to please everyone all the time. So, learn to improve yourself. Maintain your uniqueness and originality and the right people who should stay with you will always be there with you.

# Your life is your own

The moment we realise our life is just a one-time offer, we would learn to use it well. Why spend the gift of our lives in an attempt to please others. Your destiny is in your own hands. You can either make or mar it. Hence, you should learn to abjure proving yourself to the world.
