Three Pandemics

Soma recalls two more pandemics, Spanish Flu and Swine Flu, before Coronavirus, in this poem, exclusively for Different Truths.

In the years 1918- 1919, Spanish Flu pandemic
Raised the death toll to a staggering
Fifty million worldwide, amongst panic
Proving pandemic recognised no borders and boundaries
In 2009, Swine Flu, four different strains of H1N1
Were linked to the Spanish Flu
It acquired pandemic proportions in 213 countries
In 2020, Coronavirus seems to spare none, worldwide
But I believe in God’s mercy and grace
This evil will also vanish as all pandemics did before
Don’t let fear to be prevalent and paralyse your deeds.
