Three Easy Behavioural Interpretations of Body Language of Dogs

Ritambhara tells us three signs that would tell us more about dogs, in the weekly column, exclusively for Different Truths.

In a world where the difference in the language, culture, colour, and food habits among humans is witnessed with every few kilometres, humans have mastered the art to understand distinct behaviours of the animals. An animal may not be able to speak, but it tries to tell something through its body language. As a pet owner, one benefits from being observant about the behaviour of their pets. Nevertheless, if someone isn’t a pet owner, they can save themselves from the trouble arising from the unpredicted behaviour of these animals. Let’s have a look at the three most amazing interpretations of the body language of a dog so that we are not scared of their behaviour and avoid misinterpreting them.

  1. When you see a dog wagging his tail and staring at you

When a dog stares at you with his eyes wide open, it means he is seeking your attention. He would even wag his tail, which is an invitation for you to play with him. A dog wagging his tail slowly means that he is showing a friendly behaviour, you are his boss and he is ready to take your command.

  1. When you see a dog showing you his teeth and snarling

When you see a dog showing you his teeth and snarling it is a clear indication that he doesn’t want you to disturb him. Dogs usually behave like this when they are trying to protect their food and have the fear that someone would snatch it from them. Take their warning seriously and safely move away as he might bite you.

  1. When you see a dog raising one paw

You enter your friend’s house for the first time and you see his dog raising one paw, it means he knows the handshake. Dogs usually behave like this when they ask for something like food, water or want you to play with them.

  • Nice article…It is great to be in the company of a pet..When you spend some time with them, you easily learn to interpret their behavior with the passage of time…nevertheless, if you don’t have a pet, you shouldn’t panic on encountering one on the road, as animals tend to get offensive when they see a stranger…the thumb rule is not to disturb them and they will not disturb you either….
