The United States of Ballad

An evocative poem, by Krish, about the US, exclusively for Different Truths.

NY lures, NY burns
Hard workers and Restaurant Urns
NJ Hums and NJ scores
Sinatra’s Hoboken to Springsteen’s Jersey Shores
MA’s Patriots, MA’s schools
Genius available to every fool
CA’s gold, CA’s Silicon
Every entrepreneur’s Rubicon
ME Maine, VT Maple
Lobsters, syrups are its staple
DC ticks, DC sticks
From its petty politics
MD Land, MD Mary
Fairyland quite contrary
TX Critter, TX Pony
Here’s where you get your T-Boney
WA beavers, WA Mountains
Love salmon-filled rivers and Mt. St Helens
PA sways PA rings
From Amish ways and liberty dings
NE Husks, Omaha’s Mills
Corn on cobs basking in Brando’s skills
NV Bling, NV hitch,
Poker’s sting and we ain’t got a stitch
NM’s Booms, NM’s Atoms
From Oppenheimer’s ovens and his lab rooms
UT Lakes, UT Mormons
Speeding shamans with no brakes
LA Jazz LA Bayou
The name’s Katrina, how are you?
IN, IA, IL, ID
