The Lone Cry

A soul-searching poem, rooted in the Christian sensibility, by Mini, exclusively for Different Truths.

Deep within,
you are the shepherd
seeking the stray sheep
in Christ’s parable,
you are ruined,
if the loss is near dark.
You leave behind
the ninety-nine, lightless,
and go for the one,
what if,
they scattered
in ninety-nine paths?

All the same,
you go, to fill,
the lone cry,
reechoing against
the wells of your soul,
you are the stray sheep,
far removed
from you and home.
