The Green Giants and Other Poems: Unfolding the Mesmerising Magic

Rekha reviews an anthology of poems, The Green Giants and Other Poems, by Enakshi J. An exclusive for Different Truths.

A great attempt and congratulations to Enakshi J. This book portrays her undying and indubitable love for nature in its true wondrous form. The pictures too, reverberate her feelings of how much she loves to be bitten by the travel bug. It is amazing how she has been able to connect life and its various shades through these poems that describe Nature in so many vivid colours. The readers, I am certain will be encouraged to travel after reading the book, which I feel will be the greatest take away for her as a writer. She also has been successful in interspersing values and ethics into Nature to create a beautiful fabric called life, which indeed is a journey!

It is amazing how she has been able to connect life and its various shades through these poems that describe Nature in so many vivid colours.

I have reviewed some of the poems, which I am sure will ignite the interest and curiosity of the readers.

In one of the poems, she has made a good comparison to the entwined and entangled thoughts that fill the mind and how nature can work miracles with its healing touch. In yet another one, life has been identified as colourful and one must wipe out the shades of grey and live life in all its colours- myriad and mystic. An attempt to reiterate the might and beauty of nature as a saviour from all hassles, struggles and obscenities of life that we are regularly caught in is another beautiful expression.

The roaring sound of the waterfalls even though it shatters the silence is a melody to your ears and mind. It tides away all qualms and troubles bringing about a sense of peace within and around. The thunder envelops you with respite and joy.

The roaring sound of the waterfalls even though it shatters the silence is a melody to your ears and mind. It tides away all qualms and troubles bringing about a sense of peace within and around.

We must be grateful and count our blessings — the expression ‘be there’ hits you like thunder — a commandment that we should not miss anything that is beautiful around us that has the power to leave us spellbound and hungry for more.

We are never alone and can never feel lonely if we are amidst nature. In fact, we also come alive among the majestic trees and seek joy in the various sounds that we hear and the ambrosial fragrance that fills us with joy. Thus, it is easy to look for happiness even if we are alone and we must steal such moments. Nature, our best friend forever!

Yet another poem that just steals your heart is about Dusty reiterating the fact that we must look for friendship and bonding beyond our species.

It is time, we began cherishing our memories, miracles of the mind that can make us strong, hopeful and optimistic. These are priceless possessions that can never be stolen from us.

We all feel thrilled about our prized possessions but mainly materialistic. It is time, we began cherishing our memories, miracles of the mind that can make us strong, hopeful and optimistic. These are priceless possessions that can never be stolen from us.

Another piece resonates loudly about our greed to plunder! This attitude can plummet us to the deepest depths of evil. When are we going to start feeling ashamed of ourselves?

We need to set free our mind to leave it in a state of wanderlustour soul in a state of meditation and calm. To be carefree for a short span during our lifetime and to live amidst Nature has to be one of the commandments of our life!

It’s absolutely imperative that we run away and escape for a few days at least, from the chaos, madness and the humdrum of life and activity. We need to set free our mind to leave it in a state of wanderlust, our soul in a state of meditation and calm. To be carefree for a short span during our lifetime and to live amidst Nature has to be one of the commandments of our life!

Well, that’s all that I will reveal, let me leave you with a little element of mystery as you plan to unfold the mesmerising magic and nuances of life through nature.

As someone said, there is no heaven on this earth, there are only pieces of it everywhere. Let us experience the pieces of heaven within and around!
