Ritambhara talks about three ways in which machine learning or artificial intelligence impact our day-to-day lives in the years to come. A Different Truths exclusive.

It has been human instinct to work towards making life simpler and easier. In the eighteenth century, much of the agriculture was dependent on farmers. Now, most of the agriculture-related work in the developed countries is facilitated by the machines.

Machines are dominant in our lives to such an extent that we cannot imagine life without them.

Machines are dominant in our lives to such an extent that we cannot imagine life without them. A common human being today lives far better life as compared to his ancestors in terms of health, ease of work, travel or accessibility of food.

No wonder, artificial intelligence is moulding and simplifying our lifestyle, work, travel and communication. Statistics suggest trillions of dollars are paid to people since the machines are not yet efficient enough to do the work.

… our lives will be much better with machine learning when it is coupled with human skill and ingenuity.

Nonetheless, our lives will be much better with machine learning when it is coupled with human skill and ingenuity. Human intelligence is the most sophisticated computer in existence and complementing it with artificial intelligence or machine learning will enhance the orders of magnitude of data processing potential.

Let’s look at a few examples to illustrate the impact of machine learning or artificial intelligence on our day-to-day lives in the years to come.

Artificial intelligence with its capacity to handle scores of data can be very helpful for precision medication…

#. Better Medical Diagnosis

Artificial intelligence with its capacity to handle scores of data can be very helpful for precision medication by taking into consideration individual genetic configuration, lifestyle and environment. It will render traditional medication obsolete that followed the same generalised course of treatment.

#. Enhanced Agricultural Productivity with Lesser Human Input

With the burgeoning human population across the globe, we need to cater to the food requirements. Machine learning shall immensely drive our current farming practices such as tilling, sowing, weeding, fertilising or harvesting with minimal human intervention, reduced use of chemicals and enhanced productivity.  Nevertheless, the farmers would be able to predict their produce over vast amounts of farmland, forecast adverse conditions and monitor their livestock too.

In the years to come, machine learning will facilitate the way we communicate in ways which are unimaginable today.

#. Better modes of communication

In the modern fast-paced world, we need to keep pace with our surroundings. This calls for better modes of communication. Not to mention, a few decades back, cell phones were a dream for commoners. In the years to come, machine learning will facilitate the way we communicate in ways which are unimaginable today. It can be in terms of flying cars to alleviate the traffic issues or time machines that would make time insignificant.

I do agree on the part that you said ”machine learning would become better and more productive when coupled with human skills” … although our world is going in the other way. Pre-programmed robots are doing every job for us, which is not totally reliable.

Thanks for your input Sadat… Excessive reliance on machines certainty has its own drawbacks….
