Here are few simple exercises, which can tremendously help the reduction of the double chin. You do not need to do all these exercises standing up, they can be done while sitting too. Just make sure your spine is straight and erect. These exercises also help the facial muscles and keep the face in shape.
1. Face forward and open your mouth as wide as you can and then stick your tongue out all the way. Stay for 5 seconds and then pull in and close your mouth. Repeat this 10 times very slowly.
2. Face upwards and pucker your lips as if forming a kiss, hold it for 5seconds and then open wide. Close your mouth and then bring your face down. Repeat 10 times.
3. Face forwards, open your mouth wide, and roll you tongue inwards while pushing your jaw outwards. Hold for 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat it 10 times.
4. Place both palms below your chin and push down and hold for 5 seconds, while the palms provide resistance. Repeat as many times as you want to.
5. A gentle head rolling movement, once clockwise and once anticlockwise, while the spine is kept straight is very beneficial. Repeat 10 times on both sides. This also helps to relax the stressed muscles neck, shoulder, throat, and jaw area.
6. With the back side of both your palms, softly slap on the underside of your chin. It can be done with some moisturizers on the back side of the fingers. Be careful not to hit hard.
Other than these simple exercises, there are few home remedies which can be applied to the chin and below. These remedies would help to increase the suppleness of the skin and keep it soft. Most of these ingredients are at home or easily available.
1. Chewing your food slowly is one of the excise/home remedies for enhancing the jaw line and also helps the chin muscles. Chew on a sugarless gum, slowly between meals.
2. Wheat germ oil works wonders when massaged in gently from the center upwards, before bedtime. Let it stay throughout the night.
3. A combination of 1tbsp glycerin, 1/2tsp Epsom salt and few drops of peppermint oil can be applied to the chin area. Let it stay for 10 minutes and then wash with cool water. Repeat this few times a week to achieve results.
4. Twice a day, before bath and bedtime, massage warm cocoa butter on the chin and throat area. Massage in gently and let it soak into the skin.
5. A mask made of two egg whites, 1tbsp honey, 1tbsp lemon juice and 1tbsp milk can be applied. This mask is good for the whole face too, as egg whites have a tightening effect. The honey and milk are good moisturizers. The lemon juice is a great cleanser. Leave the mask on till it is completely dry. Then wash it off with lukewarm water. Pat the face dry.
6. Regular massage of extra virgin coconut oil and a dash of brandy also work wonders. This again can be used all over the face.
