Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the second men’s player to score 100 international goals milestone after Ali Daei, who scored 109 times for Iran.
Ronaldo reached this milestone for Portugal, in Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League match against Sweden. It wouldn’t take a much longer time for Ronaldo to reach his 101st goal, a fair hit from the outside of the box in the 72mintue game, giving Portugal a 2-0 win.
Ronaldo had to wait for almost 10months to reach this milestone, he scored last for Portugal in November 2019 against Luxembourg.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s goal was his 57th of his career and 10th for Portugal. Out of Ronaldo’s 100 goals, only 17 of them had come in internationally. In his long career for Portugal, he has scored seven goals vs Lithuania, six vs Sweden, five vs Andorra, Armenia, Latvia, and Luxembourg.

Ronaldo has six international hat-tricks and has scored seven goals in the FIFA World Cup stage and another nine at the UEFA Euros in his career.
At the age of 19, Ronaldo scored his first international goal for his country at the UEFA Euro 2004. He also surpassed the scores of a great player like Eusebio and Pauleta to become Portugal’s all-time top goal scorer.
On the women’s side, 17 players have achieved the 100-goal record, with seven of them Americans. Canada’s Christine Sinclair is the all-time leader with 186 goals, two more than USA’s retired forward Abby Wambach (184).
