Oh, this Beer …

Sarala tells us about the plight of an alcoholic, who lost everything to his beer, in the verse, for Different Truths.

I curse myself every day

Why I started drinking beer

From teenage years

Every time making me run to the loo

To empty my bladder

Again, I reach out to the next bottle

To make me happy and gay!

I enjoyed the beer in my young days

Dancing in the moonlight

Throughout the night nonstop!

This made a mess of my life

Ruining my marriage

As my wife hated the rotten smell

Of beer

She warned me time and again

But I could not stop my habit

Till one day she walked out on me!

Now I am old and shivering

In the cold, drinking cold beer

Without any limitation

And running up and down the loo

No one to care for me now

And I wish I stopped

This dirty habit of mine

Leaving me lonely in life!

Unable to move without my faithful walking stick

How can I change my pants now fully wet and stinking!

How I wished I listened to my wife when she warned me last!

Now I am regretting my adamant nature when I am shivering with the wet trousers out in the cold under a tree

as I have lost my home pawning it

to buy the beer!
