New Normal

Mitra hankers to return to normal life and the new normal of the pandemic is agonising. An exclusive for Different Truths.

For once I forgot about the
pandemic, the masks and
sanitisers, the lockdown and
social distancing and went out
to watch the sunrise, on the
top of my building, between the
branches of the trees.

There it was, the ripe crimson
sun, bold and beautiful
overlooking the earth, as if
nothing has gone wrong, and
here comes the hands of a new
day embracing you with new hope.

Let the despair rest because
this too will pass, the air would
be clear again, the roads full
of life, evil never wins and we
must keep up the fight.

There will be a new definition
of normal but that will not stop
us from reading a book, dancing
to the music, writing a poem,
getting that degree, finding a
means of livelihood, making a new
friend and watching the sunrise,
bold and beautiful, promising delight.
