Anjali, a teenager, explores the beauty of thoughts in this poem, exclusively for Different Truths.
There is a lot of beauty in the actions of a person who reads. The rising and falling of eyebrows like waves they seem. Something spectacular spread out on the pages. The sudden gasp, of realisation and excitement past ages The fixed eyes, carefully scanning each line read, what’s in between them left unsaid Scribbling notes on the edges small corners in hurried underlined words a blunt pencil tip gliding across the dog eared pages. The marvel and amazement that a reader finds in another person who has read the same book and big cheery eyes Lighting up when discussing a text how much it means they seem more than just the words simply printed it seems It is a delight to see sniffing pages in secrecy of books new and old. Stealing glances sitting across a library room The muffled giggles about a stanza or paragraph and the complete void, when rest remains to be scene The tapping of feet in the heat of the moment the sighs of what could have been… There is more to it than what the eyes see, just the surface of what goes through the mind of someone who reads. Sanity lies in those pages and the passion radiates, when resonance with a character emanates They have been to places way and beyond time and distance measured lived more lives than what one can fathom.
