It is Us

A poem of hope, love, and assurance, by Shernaz, exclusively for Different Truths

“It is us,” words I always hear you say,
“Don't worry, we will surely find a way.”
Your easy assurance almost palpable
the pledge of faith - steadfast, impregnable.

“Yes, it is us,” I whisper after you
true to our friendship, I stand too.
Not in undulating sands, nor in thin air
grounded in trust, it is honest and fair.

It seeks not others to bruise or harm
it knows no guile or devilish charm
forged on the anvil of loving understanding
our bond is steely, our resolve unfaltering.

It is us - committed, rooted in our belief
quiet, knowing companionship, our relief
from the hazards of floundering in inanity
from the perils of slipping into vacuity

fears – whiffs of smoke- vanish; doubts disperse;
hopes abide, dreads shrink – their roles in reverse;
songs adorn lips, smiles intercept tears,
light-hearted life the lyrics of love hears.
