Saranya wonders how much the need of the man for a child is, in this tongue-in-cheek poem, exclusively for Different Truths.
How much man is need of the Child
to leave behind numbers, to venture the wild
to jump into the puddle not worrying of the stain
to count the stars not worrying – being in vain
how much man is in need of the child
to see wonder in magnets and broken hooks
to hear and see beyond serious art and books
to laugh like there was no yesterday
to cry like there is only today
to forget and remember without a scar
to join hands with those not so much at par
how much man is in need of the child
to see with eyes as wide as windows can take
to venture doors that no labour can make
to love without fear, be moved without tear
to want to touch in same vein, the tiger and the deer
how much man is in need of the child
to value rags and street-finds more than gold
to trust every truth is the highest ever told
to know that kites look best when high in the sky
to happily stamp away built castles and not heave a sigh
to love, to learn, to discover and still seek
to embrace, to abandon, to quieten and then speak…
how much more man is in need of the child.
