During the fall, the harvest season is in full swing in the US. Apples flood the market in every size, shape and colour. In the grocery stores, these fruits fill up counters after counters and give a beautiful festive look. From Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, McIntosh, Rome Beauty, Fuji, Jonathan, York, Gala, and Yellow Newton and many more. The aroma of apple pie, apple cake, apple fitters and so many more delicious dishes gets the creative juices following in the mind of dessert lovers. Cutting, peeling, chopping, slicing and layering of this fruit is the most happening thing of this season.

My friend Barbara used to make the most lip-smacking apple cake. Before she left my city, I made it a point to learn it from her.

After trials and errors, I have perfected the art of making this cake. With its crispy corners and soft fluffy yet fruity inside, it has become a hit among my friends. Often during our get-together, I am asked to make this cake.

Hope you all enjoy making and tasting this cake as much as my loved ones do.
