Dr Sudipta draws our attention to the risks of school children turning to porn and what might be done to counter it – an exclusive for Different Truths.
Gone are the days of secretly watching porn videos hideously by a few people inside a room. Now, it’s freely available. Some years ago, CD or VCD players rendered the scope of watching porn videos for the netizens in some C-grade movies. But now the situation is changed. Thanks go to the ubiquitous mobile phones for this development. Social media and other technologically friendly apps lure people to watch porn every moment, like seduction. The most dangerous prey to this temptation is the youth of this society. Even according to a survey, it is revealed that children are no exception or prone to porn videos in recent years.
Let’s see the entire matter. Accidentally, school children or teenagers catch the videos that pop up on their parent’s devices. With curiosity, they develop the agility to watch these videos secretly. Different gaming apps also discreetly provide options for watching such (xxx) videos. Automatically, they create a habit of watching such videos that trigger their inquisitiveness towards sex.
To explore their sexuality and unravel the hidden truths about their physicality, they gather vicious information about sex. Porn videos interpret a false connotation about sex where a woman is treated as an object. Unsafe sex and sex with multiple partners only impart a false sense of insecurity that breaks down the fundamental structure of our society and ultimately weakens the future of our youngsters. Though aware that watching such videos only harms their morality, college students watch out for them because of peer pressure.
According to psychologists, this type of video only ruins the idea of marriage in the minds of youths and forces them to indulge in bestial activities. The increase in rapes and molestation results from such half-hazard notions that they collect from such vulnerable videos. Girls are no way exception to such activities. But after watching videos, they become guilt-ridden by the conventional stigma of our society. With the fear of losing their virginity, they begin to accuse themselves. Women do watch such tapes after getting pressure from their partners. But they forget to watch it repeatedly in comparison to boys.
After discussing the entire scenario, we may conclude that parents can be a gateway to lessen the unsafe and vulnerable activities of watching such porn videos with their kids. There are some focused points.
Proper sex education and training for the future.
To prepare kids mentally and emotionally to tackle themselves after confronting such videos on any gadgets.
Parents can keep a vigilant eye on their kids’ electronic devices by keeping them in familiar places in their homes instead of attaching the device to bedrooms.
The free availability of such videos without restrictions is the sole cause of such anarchy. We must act prudently to curb the moral degradation of our values and violence. Nothing can be repaired without the intervention of authorities and strict regulatory norms. So, to reform our youth’s mental health and well-being, we must act with a difference in our mindset and behave in an ethically right ambience. Our Supreme Court declared and asked the government to block porn sites, especially child pornography sites. Our apex court has seen such sites as the result of violence against women, so we asked our government to block such deviant, brutal and destructive sites.
Unless and until we accept abstinence and propagate the ancient values of our nation, we can’t cover the extra miles of success that the great legends like Buddha and Vivekananda had designed for our country.
