Focus: An Unexpected Adventure in Banana Art, Sardinia & Nostradamus 2025

Duct taped on wall

A prank, was it?
Or a hypocritical statement on the state
of affairs of the art world?
Whatever else could a banana duct taped
on a wall convey?
Any other time, a banana would cost
a measly amount, but when on the wall
it sells for a million!
The display titled, ‘Comedian’ went in
for three editions questioning the value
of art, authenticity, logic behind it all.
Italian artist Maurizio Catellan, the
mastermind behind this strange display.
Conceptual art has its fans
but some, really need to get a ban
like the solitary banana on the wall.

Nostradamus predictions flying high

Come to the end of the year and astrological
predictions fly high, who will survive,
who will die; Nostradamus well known
the world over for ages, his prophecies
trusted watched out for.
For 2025 too, predictions abound of potential
wars ending, plague and war to
plague England, giant asteroid collision,
flooding Brazil. Predictions a belief, a hope,
a map to a destiny waiting to happen.
Irrespective of it all, the journey is what
matters, good or bad, healthy or dying.

Reorganising global space

Trump’s re-entry into global politics
alarming to many in the world
so much so that countries are
capitalizing on the moving-out-of-US
syndrome. No wonder then, a village
on the island of Sardinia is offering
houses for a pittance and, people are
falling left, right and centre for it.
Anything to escape the America
that houses Trump and trumpeting
colleagues; Italy needs people and fast
because of its population depleting vast;
Trump’s victory, an opportunity to get
a place packed and rolling and how!
