flowerpot

A poignant poem and a beautiful painting, by Nibedita, for Different Truths.

in this decorated balcony
a flowerpot stands empty
attracting attention and questions
about its purpose and meaning

and I did think about filling it up
with flowers, fresh or synthetic
I did think about it
so many times

but over the years
this bit of unpremeditated space
flowered on me
with a surprising freedom
only the flowerpot knows

  • Exquisite depiction of both art and literature.
The painting is dramatic. And the brevity of the poem matches in its punch.

  • Like the analogy … Perhaps meant indirectly bet the woman and the pot. Her expressions say a lot

  • What a breathtaking piece of painting!!!
Your perspective on is very refreshing.
    Very well knitted verse.

  • What a beautiful painting! And a well expressed verse .. The look in the girl’s eyes expresses her loneliness which is synonymous with the emptiness in the flower pot …
