I am Fifty Percent of You

Here’s Dr Chetna’s tribute to her mother on her 70th birthday, on Sunday, June 25, exclusively for Different Truths.

I am fifty percent of you, dear Mom,
A reflection of your grace, a gentle calm,
In your nurturing embrace, I found my way,
Guided by your love, each and every day.

From the moment of conception, our souls intertwined,
A connection so profound, forever enshrined,
In your essence, I see strength and resilience,
A beacon of hope, an unwavering brilliance.

You carried me within, a sacred vessel,
Nurtured my being, a love so celestial,
From the very core of your being, I arose,
In your heartbeat, a lullaby that still flows.

Your dreams and aspirations, live in me,
A legacy of love that forever will be,
For you are the roots, and I am the tree,
Bound by blood, a legacy so free.

Through the trials we've faced, the storms we've braved,
Your unwavering support, my spirit saved,
I am a reflection of your sacrifices made,
A testament to the love that will never fade.

In your eyes, I glimpse my future's hue,
A tapestry of dreams, painted a new,
I carry your wisdom, your values, your might,
For you are the dawn that brings forth the light.

So, dear Mom, know this truth I hold,
In my veins, your love shall forever unfold,
I am fifty percent of you, a part of your soul,
Together we stand, a bond beyond all control.

In the tapestry of life, our threads entwined,
A testament to love eternally defined,
I am grateful, dear Mom, for all that you do,
For I am fifty percent of you, forever true!
