CPI Demands Immediate Release of Arrested Activists and AIKMS Condemns the Fascist Move

CPI condemned serial raids across the country on homes of activists and public intellectuals Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves, Gautam Navlakha, Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, who are fighting for justice for Dalit, Adivasis and other marginalised sections of the society. These individuals are labelled as “Urban Naxalite”. While AIKMS staged protests and flayed the fascist move of the Centre. A report for Different Truths.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India today condemned serial raids across the country on homes of activists and public intellectuals Sudha Bharadwaj, Vernon Gonsalves, Gautam Navlakha, Varavara Rao, Arun Ferreira, who are fighting for justice for Dalit, Adivasis and other marginalised sections of the society. These individuals are labelled as “Urban Naxalite”.

CPI believes that these raids are carried out to divert the attention of people from Sanatan Sanstha and their conspiracies to carry out serial bomb attacks on Eid and Ganesh Chaturthi as well as their involvement in the murder of Gauri Lankesh, Dabholkar, Govind Pansare and other rationalists.

According to the CPI statement, after the Bhim Koregoan violence against Dalits, the BJP governments in Maharashtra and at centre have used their different agencies to chalk out such a sinister plan to arrest these human rights activists by levelling false and cooked up charges and fabricated stories to link them with the Maoist movement.

These attacks on democratic and civil rights expose once again the fascistic character of the present government. This calls for the broader unity and actions of all secular, democratic and left forces to defend the constitutional rights of Indian citizens, CPI said. CPI has demanded immediate release of the arrested individuals and dropping of all false and fabricated charges against them.

Meanwhile, several activists of Allahabad held a joint protests today along with several other democratic and progressive organizations and intellectuals at Subhash Crossing today to demand immediate and unconditional release of all five persons arrested in the name of being Maoist supporters yesterday by the fascist government of RSS-BJP led by Narendra Modi, stated a media release of the AIKMS.

They said that in the Bhima Koregaon attack orchestrated by RSS leaders Milind Ekbote and Shambhaji Bhide, who are named in the FIR, Bhide has not even been touched and Modi has called him a Mahapurush. The whole charge is being twisted to blame unknown Maoists in this attack and fabricated proofs of implanted letters are being used to charge democratic movement activists, lawyers, press persons of conniving with Maoists. This fabricated allegation is directed to prevent progressive and patriotic intellectuals from supporting tribal movement in India and Dalits, preventing them from being represented in courts when they are falsely charged by the state. This will help the govt. to displace peasants and Adivasies, take over their land forests and hand them over to MNCs.

The attack on these patriotic activists is inspired by RSS-BJP’s pro-imperialists, anti-Indian people character and caste hatred towards Dalits and Adivasis.  Jain said it is the beginning of Emergency.

CPI (ML) New Democracy, AIKMS, CITU, AITUC, AICCTU, Daman Virodhi Manch, Shahri Gareeb Sangharsh Morcha, Gharelu Kamgar Mahila Sangathan, AISA, SFI, Disha, Inqulabi Naujawan Sabha, Stri Mukti Sangathan, Jagrit Samaj, All India lawyers association and others organised the protest.

Ravi Kiran Jain, K.K. Roy, Prof. Ranjana Kakkar, O.D. Singh, Dr. Ashish Mital, Zafar Bakht, Anshu Malviya, Utpala Shukla, Avinash Misra, Dr. K.K. Pandey, Dr. Kamal, Sri Pancham Lal, Asrar Niazi, Javed Mohd., Subhash Pandey, Seema Azad, Rashmi Malviya, Dr. Padma Singh, Harish Chandra Dwivedi, Ram Kailash Kushwaha, Suresh Nishad, Amit, Rajvendra and others participated, according to a media release.
