Churned in the Soul

A powerful and an intense poem by Elsy, in Different Truths.

The ache that burnt
into conscience
grew into a blaze.
It was doused,
but then the soul
went up in flames!
Which is more agonizing?
muffling the conscience
or mashing the soul?
Unheeding the guilty prick,
or neglecting the call of soul?
Is it not more benign
to be unfair to oneself,
than to another’s self?
What if it calls for
the sagacity of a sage
or the forbearance of a stoic!
