Addiction

A poem on a social cause, recited by Rashmi, during an event organised by Different Truths Publications and Allahabad Museum, recently.

Addiction – an obsessive disorder
A slow poison and
lethal process of enslavement.
A path paved to destruction and unending craving.
Alcoholism, drug addiction, food addiction,
smoking, Facebook are some names
Addiction grips a person and makes one impetuous
It’s an intoxicating process leads to loss of identity
Addiction possess over a person and
leaves hollowed self.
A fragmented personality without any control over body
Addiction cripples one physically and mentally,
It makes the victim blind
who grinds
all relations of life
to fulfill impulsive desires.
Addiction an obsessive disorder
A slow poison and
lethal process of enslavement.
