A Rainy Day

In this poem by Mohini, nature’s joy and sadness intertwine, embracing humanity — an exclusive for Different Truths.

The leaves were all so gay,
Dancing back and forth in the breeze’s embrace
The greens whispered
A soft lullaby.
When the rain stopped, drops slid,
Falling from grace and kissing goodbye.

The drops were all so gay,
They jumped, then were reunited,
With puddles of water that sang
Pitter patter, pitter patter
The song of our dreams
Mellow and lustrous, with a hint of fluorescent melted.

The children were all so gay,
Feet dripped in water and smiles hung from their faces.
They looked at their crooked reflections
And found themselves staring into the soul of nature.
Her face masked with their shadows
And stared back in dismay.

Nature was all so gay
With a hint of sadness in her eyes.
Scared was she from falling apart
From men and their ways.
The man was not worthy of her care
Her affection, her heart, and her prayers
