Love After Loss: Finding Healing and Growth

Once, it was heavily overloaded
And extremely difficult to lug around
It carried tons of guilt, remorse, memories
Wanted and unwanted; tidily packed
Or just pushed in
because I wanted them out of sight
Till one day it became impossible
To haul around.
Exhausted to the core of my soul
I set it down. Opened it hesitantly
And began to rummage around.
I took a good look at
the pieces – contents –
many were of use no more…
pieces that anchored me down
and brought life to a standstill.
I began to learn and grow
Letting go of things unnecessary
unwinding, evolving, blossoming
into a serene, rejuvenated me.

  • Beautiful! Letting go is what one has to learn to lead an uncluttered life. Right you are, one feels rejuvenated after letting go whatever is unnecessary that we keep gathering as we move on in life…

  • Shernaz, as heartfelt poem written with tremendous emotions. The metaphor of the “bag”as containing your emotions is strong and appropriate; allowing you to eliminate the unnecessary ones as time goes on. My hope is you improve with each day.
