Love in the Rain: An Exploration of Melancholy

Rain, rain, rain,
Oh! dear sky you rain,
Soak deeply the earth and the mountains
And so also sympathise
The abandoned lover’s puzzled brain.

The drops of rain appear
As if streams of tears
Running out of a pair of sunken eyes
Reverberating in the air, the voice of a forlorn lover.

The loud rumbling sound of
fired thunder
Come as the beating of drums
Towards commemorating the showering distress of
a desolated and dreary love.

The tears of the lidded eyes
Soak the earth
With silent intoxication
At par with the monsoon rains
But Alas!
Someone somewhere dances in rhythms with
exalted cheers
Induced to start dancing
On the beats of the song of the vault of heaven.

A soaked earth thus cries in silence
At par with the ink-soaked paper of a poet.
Where words vanish
To describe in verse the essence of a story unsaid
Or a pain not lamented
But it allows love to take refuge.
