Eimaan’s poem, exclusively for Different Truths, tells a heartfelt love story, highlighting guilt, internal conflict, faith, and temptation.
I'd tear my heart apart
Be your mosaic piece of art
Had I no fear of being slandered
Lilith, I’m dying and begging
Your eyes burn my bones till the dust
Lilith, I’m pleading and bleeding
Keep me away from your lust
Years of comfort, aiding and whisking
away thy worries
Who shall save me from this rampage I love?
Caress my cheeks and tend to these wounds
as l once did
Who shall rip it all apart and cleanse
my flesh with love?
Kiss away my tears and lick these scars
that I once hid
Blood etched across my fingertips
Lips raw from my venomous words
Maman! Can I still repent?
God don't forget me
My eyes glisten still, my brows furrow still,
my heart shakes still,
But your faithful slave still, I am
For any other way could never be
God, I plead! My knees were raw, my eyes were cloud,
What I saw is ever hazy
The sun rises above me
Yet I feel the lingering presence of the moon over my frail shoulders
"Are the stars her tears?" I query
Doomed to only glance at her lover
I rarely feel his rays
Only ever fully see his shine in her tears.
My love lies cold and maimed
She empathizes with me
Still, I seek the warmth of her touch, unashamed
Soaring far above, she trails my cuts stranded
Whispering lush wonders just for me
Red vines are prickly of touch, born to gather
the wanderers' blood
Your tender, gentle heart, lays pristine
Raw and throbbing from deep within
Swallowing each droplet of hate
in hope of its sweet liquor.
Struck by the rays of the blue hour
My dead girl rises, draped in empyrean quill
Scintillating with the angel holding her will
Still, she pierces right through me
Still, I cry for my long-gone believer
We once prayed together
Prayers mushed together
Hopes bare down our sleeves
Nude of secrecy, full of beaming love,
sewn forever.
