Break Free from the Cage: Overcome Desires

The clock is ticking.
And I am wasting time
Busy in the ways of the mortal world
Yes! I am a "caged bird",
Caged in the lust for luxuries,
Caged in grief and misery,
That arises from greed and avarice,
Lord! Bless me, please.
May I chant only thy name?
May my heart and mind be tamed.
May I think good all the time?
For thinking badly is also a crime
Please make my heart your abode
Show me how to walk on the righteous road,
I am a clay model of imperfections and vanity,
Bless me with wisdom and sanity
Spare my soul from eternal suffering,
Bless me, dear Lord!
The clock is ticking.
