My Moon, Everybody’s Moon!

Dr Molly’s celestial poetry, capturing a lifetime of emotions, commemorates the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 exclusively for Different Truths.

How many
         time
have I been
         in love
with you
 O, Moon!
    when Amma
        fed me
on her
       shoulders
showing you
   telling many
a tale
       about you,
singing
        songs of
you, Chanda
          Mama!

in my stories
      you were
the caring
      Daughter
of the universe
      soothing it
lightening
    up the dark,
while the Sun,
               the
  recalcitrant
               Son
  scorched...

in my days
        of youth,
 O, Moon,
       my Moon
my beloved,
how you
        doted on me
     from above
and spread
    the romantic
aura...

later, in my
        pitfalls of
life, how I
        looked up
at you, tearful,
         my eyes
roving over
             you
wistfully,
in search
    of my dear
departed
visualising
      my Amma
there
smiling from
       above...

hah! My Moon
     everybody's
Moon!

now I
        can show
you to my
     grandchildren
         so close...

the wonderland
       that now
bears human
       imprint...

we have
         reached
you, touched
     you,
My Moon!
Everybody’s
      Moon!
