Tick Tock / The Sky and Winter

In Tick Tock, Olaitan dwells on the many narratives of time, from the personal to the eternal. Her second poem, The Sky and Winter, is an evocative verse about nature and suffering.

Tick Tock

The tick tock
Of the clock reminds me
Of the ding dong
Of the bell…

Time flies as flies;
Days crawl, run and fly…

Age unfolds mysteries
And the body slowly sleep.

Morning brings tiny hope
Of escape,
Afternoon ushers
The noise
Of birds,
And night steals hours and days;
Pushing me closer
To the bed
Of endless sleep.

The tick tock
Of the clock reminds me
Of eternity…

The rain falls or
The snow comes…
