Insomnia’s Upside Downunder

A poignant poem, by Christine, where she sees the positive and healing side of insomnia. An exclusive for Different Truths.

Yet another insomniac night,
BUT...
on the healing side of this singularly horrible journey.
I breathe without gasping,
I smile and my mouth is softer,
teeth not gritted,
mind returning to focus where it
longs to be
needs to be, is about to be;
AGAIN!
On me, the Captain...
and my faithful crew
of the good ship, ‘Survivor’
it ALL depends.
Loving,
supporting,
healing,
strengthening.
Did I say LOVING?
Of course.
How could I not,
wrapped in great, soft, billowy wads of it?
By ALL of those who care?

To my amazement
and delight beyond dreams,
THEY are many…
those who speak to me around the world,
those who wish me well,
THEY who love me.

And I have to question…
would it be so,
IF
this misfortune were not weighing me down?
Bizarre gifts appear
when other valued aspects are lost.
And raise the question…
would it be so,
IF not for this
status quo?!?
