My Silent Gatekeeper

Prof. Laksmisree pays her homage to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, in this poignant verse,
exclusively for Different Truths.

You stood at my doorway
 my silent gatekeeper,
 myself yet unknowing, longing
while you stayed in the deep crevices
 of my yearning soul –

 Across the granular dusty paths
I travelled in the blizzard fierce
 that pierced my being whole
with you the swinging singing breeze
 within my muddied core –

 Still in search, myself looking
 for you in my me,
 in your animated breath
 as my evergreen spring-sustenance
 pulsating inside me –

In the density of forest tangles
 in the spiky wild gardens
you my love and god remained
 mutely resonant in my heart
as the fragrant hidden musk rose –

I swam and reeled in the briny seas
 in turbulent tempests still clinging
 unknowingly to your breathing swaddles
of luminosity within my inner shrine
I found your placid shine –

You my quest, my nest, my very best
you remain my tranquil, living zest
you stay forever in my trances, implosions,
my actions, my explosions, my ecstatic songs
echoing your effusions in me at the crest!
