How to Send Us Your Work: We accept submissions only through email. We do not accept submissions through postal services. Your submission must be in the following file forms: .doc, .docx .txt, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, .png, .mp4, .mov, .flv.
We do not accept PDFs.
Formatting Your Manuscript and a Few Dont’s:
Authors and poets may at best suggest a heading, but the final decision is that of the editors alone. Furthermore, the intro is an editorial prerogative. No discussion shall be entertained.
All manuscripts should be in Times New Roman 12-point type, with at least one-inch margins, and sequentially numbered pages. Headings in 18-point type.
Fiction and nonfiction should be double-spaced.
Poetry should be single-spaced.
Type the author’s name, address, telephone number, and email address at the top of the first page.
First-time contributors are asked to include a brief biographical note (max 75 words, in the third person) and a photo of theirs (front face) with their submissions.
British or the UK style of English is followed in Different Truths. All American spellings will be changed into the UK style. Similarly, Indian words like Ganga, Raag, etc., shall be changed into the spellings followed by Different Truths. Editors are aware of these. Furthermore, these changes shall also be made in Book Extract published in Different Truths.
Do not submit/resend any post (poems, articles, stories) that has been shared on Facebook or any other social media platforms.
We may republish articles/poems from your printed books, provided it has not been shared of Facebook and other social media platforms. In select cases, we might republish your blog posts, if not shared on Facebook and other social media platforms. These will appear as Guest Blogs, not as columns (for columnists).
Do not embed photos, visuals, or graphs in the word file. All these must be sent separately as attachments.
Do not decorate, draw borders, etc., in the word file.
Do not use obscene and/or profane language, or send anti-national material that attacks the principles of democracy and secularism. No materials that have gender bias, promote any kind of bigotries, jingoism or subjudice shall be entertained for publication.
Word Count Guidelines
Articles and Reports’ manuscripts must be no less than 500 and no more than 2,000 words.
For poetry submissions, you may send up to ten poems. You may follow any rhyme scheme. Poems should be between 25 and 40 lines (not more than 8 words in a line). Send all poems in a single file. Your submission should give a strong sense of your style and range. We accept submissions of all poetic forms and genres, including translations from other languages into English (mention translator’s name).
Flash Stories and Reviews (Books, films, theatre, event, function, et al) should be 500 to 1500 words
Manuscripts of 2,000 to 4,500 words can include short stories, essays, one-act plays, and other complete short works of nonfiction. The author or publisher might submit these. Excerpts from longer fiction and nonfiction in Different Truths are also welcome.
The serialisation of Book-Length Works (15,000 to 50,000 words): For consideration for serialisation, please send the first chapter and a one-page synopsis of the book. (Based on our reading of the first chapter and synopsis, we will ask to see the complete book manuscript if we think the book is suitable for serialisation in Different Truths. The author or publisher might submit these.
Narrative Outloud Audio Prose submissions may be fiction or nonfiction but should take a storytelling form. Audio prose submissions must be in MP3 format and may be up to ten minutes long.
Narrative Outloud Audio Poetry submissions must be in MP3 format and may be up to five minutes long.
Narrative Outloud Video submissions may be short films and documentaries of up to 15 minutes. Submissions must be in .mp4 or .mov format.
