Silence…

Saranya celebrates the strength and healing power of silence, in this poem, exclusively for Different Truths.

Earnest confessions and a helpless cry
are measured in silence by the knowing eye
In silence alone does love find a voice,
Discernment and surrender make no noise.

In silence blooms every innocent bud
In silence flowers the bridal bed
In silence the devotee finds his lord
Silence alone knows life – death – god

Simple things are silent in their ways
The breeze, the shade, a stalk of maize
The soulmate estranged may sing no more
But his verses are heard on wordless days

Words only heed the mortal’s thirst
But silence quenches the eternal parch
Weakness a million bugles may sound
But strength resonates in the silent march.
