The Writing Bug

A humour poem from Dr Jas, exclusively for Different Truths.

Life was going on pretty smoothly
Till the day the writing bug bit me

I keep awake when family members are asleep
I have imaginary writing deadlines to keep

Many authors have become friends
All are republic of Utopia’s residents

Some of my writings and ideas are revolutionary
But the system only listens to powers that be

I am giving up my present gleefully
For a supposed afterlife immortality

I thought gifting books will increase my readers
But some sold the gifted books to junk dealers

Show me a thing as simple as a knife
I can write about it for my entire life

Once I used a strange metaphor for my wife
Expectedly there was a sustained strife

When a thought falls from the heaven and the writers’ block recedes
I feel like celebrating in the manner of Archimedes

I feel writing should be recognised as a psychiatric condition
I am seriously thinking of getting de-addiction
