Sweet Dream

A poignant poem about Nature, by Dr Sarma, exclusively for Different Truths.

Thy lovely sultry form in a slinky dress
And pretty smile, no words to express
Lilac soft lips, gorgeous eyes and softy look
Innocent love, sable black hair and bubbly outlook
Angel white teeth when ye smile
Makes me enchant all the while
All these are thy transcendent treasure
Which keeps me ever in pleasure
With all thy thoughts in mind
And sweet memories combined
I reposed with calm mind last night
Late in the stilly moonlight

We were enjoying the mountains of Kodai
Glancing the beauty office deep kloofs nearby
Flapping like whizzed fruits of Gyrocarpus
And the samaras of Dipterocarpus
Then we rowed in Shrinagar lakes
And you kept on me, thy pretty looks
A slight breeze ruffled the leaves
Escalated the beauty of Moghul garden trees
The foggy Shrinagar cold weather
Brought us still close together
There we ran under a tree full of apples
Where they are glittering like pebbles
With hands round, thy delicate waist laid in thy lap
As the apple jealousy peep from the top
We were at the utmost ebullience
Not minding even the ambience
Apples catechised furiously in reddish cheeks
As I didn’t caress them but thy blossom soft cheeks
“How dare ye fondle your dearie’s cheeks
When we are here with tender dimple cheeks”
I reposed calm and cool
Just to make them console
“Thy slender cheeks soon wither away
But my dearie cheeks never fade away”

The singings of birds in the distant wood
Made me wake up from my bed
I searched eagerly everywhere for thee
Not leaving a single bush or tree
My hunt was futile and could see none
Except on the hilltop, the rising sun
The sun was rising calm and bright
And I put my dream in black and white
Though it’s a dream of last night
It keeps me ever in delight
