Priyanka writes an open laughter to her daughter. She is apprehensive about crime against children. But she asks her to spread her wings and fly, fearlessly, exclusively for Different Truths.
Dear Daughter,
The day you were born, I was born again.
With your birth, I got another life. In your sparkling and vivid eyes, I saw a dream with my open eyes, to nourish and nurture you with essential values of life and keep you safe and near my view.
As you grow up, my insecurities and fear of raising you in a harmless environment grow stronger.
…my insecurities and fear of raising you in a harmless environment grow stronger.
The more I hear the news of heinous crimes happening all over the world with the girl child the more I get scared.
Even eight-month-old little baby girl was not spared, wonder what goes inside the mind of the culprits?
I really think and try to understand the mindset of such criminals. I try to understand where things would have gone wrong in the culprit’s growing age, what was lacking or what was conditioning him towards nothing but turning him in a living demon.
It leaves me aghast, thinking that what should I do, how should I prepare my little girl, how should I train or coach her?
How should I raise my daughter and above all how should I protect her throughout her life?
I will let you fly… I want to give you new feathers.
But my dear girl, I do not want to stop you. I will let you fly, I do not want to cling to your feathers rather I want to give you new feathers.
I will never give you false hopes or show a beautiful picture of the outside world all the time.
I want you to grow in reality. I want you to be strong enough to fight for your dignity and be subtle enough to let go of anything which hampers your development. I want you to understand the value of life and would never want you to grow in ignorance.
I want you to be kind, generous and human every day. In this world of technological advancements and cut-throat competition, we are missing human touch.
I want you to stay raw. I want you to discover life by living each day as if this is the last day of your life.
I want you to explore life, be genuine and hold some sensitivity towards people around you.
I want you to be there for your near and dear ones. It is okay even if you don’t become an IAS officer or a Pilot, (the usual benchmark we set for our children). I want you to explore life, be genuine and hold some sensitivity towards people around you.
My dear daughter, I want you to be strong mentally and physically, in both ways.
I do not want you to be the Mata Sita who waited for her Lord Rama to rescue her, what if the Rama in real life never comes?
I want you to be a warrior of your own life, who can fight and protect her dignity on her own. I want you to change the way
people look at a woman, I want you to break all the stereotypes and live the life of your choice.
In the end, I would say love more, live more, take out time for little things in life, see beauty in everything, respect feelings, and emotions, learn to be courageous and stand for your own belief, practice gratitude and live a healthy and peaceful life.
Your loving mother,
Priyanka
