Worrying in its severe form leads to depression as zeroing into events that we cannot actually choose to take action to help prepare for whatever one is overly thinking about. Ritambhara tells us three ways to combat it, in the weekly column, exclusively in Different Truths.

Disquietude or worrying is unwarranted as it serves nothing more than an unnecessary evil to our mental health. Those who advocate that worrying helps in learning from the past experiences and equips them for the new ones are mistaken as it engages our brain by concentrating on uncertain things that might not be under our control. Worrying in its severe form leads to depression as zeroing into events that we cannot actually choose to take action to help prepare for whatever one is overly thinking about. Well, the worry is just a state of mind. You can easily get rid of unnecessary worries by simply engaging in some constructive activity. We are often mistaken, we cannot control the future. Actually, we can choose to prepare and be well equipped for whatever we are worried about. Let us have a look at three easy ways to help yourself from worrying.

# Sharing Your Thoughts with Your Near and Dear Ones

The modern busy lifestyle leaves no space for us to interact with our near and dear ones. We are so engrossed in our work that we hardly find any time for each other. Discussing our problems with the people we trust not only helps us relieve our burden and over-thinking, but also helps solve our problems to a great extent as we might get the right solution we have been looking for.

# Meditation

Well, if you don’t have anyone by your side to discuss what all your brain is overly occupied with, the best thing you can do is meditate. In fact, devoting some time for meditation on daily basis can help you find your brain to be calm and free from anxiety. Meditation doesn’t necessarily mean spending hours. You can just choose to close your eyes for a few minutes to experience peace and solace. This will train your brain to stop worrying about seemingly trivial issues.

# Yoga and Exercise

Yoga is an effective way to govern your body, your heart rate and perspiration. It helps maintain blood pressure. High blood pressure indicates stress. If you are stressed, go for a walk in the open. Admire the natural beauty around, the sights and sounds of birds chirping. It will help you forget about your worries and remember your worries are not ending of the world.

Rightly said. It’s very important to keep calm as the present lifestyle is such. We need to be close to God, talk to our family and friends and take care of our health.
