Here’s a dark enigmatic poem by Urooj.

I stood on the hump-backed bridge
With my arms hugging my dead soul…
In the clear moonlight, the swirling waters beneath were speckled…
In myriad colours;
Rose pink and silver…
Slate-grey and rusted red
Shimmering yellow and tenderest blue
A few leaves eddied in the pool
While old dead oaks
Garlanded in ivy, stood upright with roots
Agape to the sky and willows wept and shivered in the breeze..
From its banks…
Shadowy pastures climbed up the fell-side…
And the great buffs of limestone
Smells of wet wood and honeysuckle…
Mingled in the still air
A distant farm dog yapped
And high above an owl gave a hunting shriek…
I looked down the bridge…

My soul was slipping from my arms…
Deep into the silver waters…
I bent some more…
To kiss goodbye on its cold forehead…
And it hugged me…

With a dying name on my lips…
I slept in the water…
