The tussle between Karma and destiny decided by planetary positions has been explored and exposed in this poem, by Mamta. It’s a powerful social commentary, in Different Truths.

Gaining on the mood swings

Losing on the roundabouts

The planetary patterns

Their swirls and tangles

Printed on the paper

Daily, weekly, monthly, yearly

Made the Super Star believe them

Only to be found wanting

In his luck smudged world.

The more he trusted

The potency of his zodiac sign’s fire

His fate was determined

By his flops and public ire

Torn by the dilemma

To stay put and decay

Or to serenade adventure

A nomadic fluid life

With no care for loyal fanfare

Withdrawing from wordly activities

On account of printed columns

He found his arch rivals benefit

With dazzling assignments overseas

Too plum in nature

A tumult muzzled his finances

Emotions in an anaemic bind

A torpor too weighty to capture

The irony of stars parodied starry life.

From words to prescient gems

One on each shrivelled finger

To set the awry curve straight

He tried blurring the past

A failed star vitalising his future

Destiny inflating the constellations

His rivals sped ahead full throttle

A fledgling before the caged birds

Squatting and eyeing cards

Alas! The faded star was seen last.
